That There’s an RV

  • by

The latest addition to my 2020 Christmas Card Collection, “that there’s an RV”, is based on one of the best Christmas movies of all time (at least in my humble opinion) – Christmas Vacation.

Chock full of hilarious one-liners, this holiday classic is about the Griswold family – Clark, his wife Ellen, and their 2 kids – Rusty and Audrey, and their decision to stay home to have “a good old-fashioned family Christmas”.

The scene (<– YouTube video) that sparked the idea for this card is a conversation between Clark and his cousin Eddie. Eddie, the uncouth, white-trash cousin and his family decided to pop in, unannounced and uninvited, for a surprise holiday visit. Clark and Ellen reluctantly invite cousin Eddie and his family to stay with them for Christmas. Back to the scene:

Cousin Eddie and Clark Griswold talking about Eddie's RV
Cousin Eddie and Clark discussing Eddie’s camper,

Eddie and Clark are talking about Eddie’s old, beat up, rusty piece of crap camper that’s sitting in the Griswold’s driveway:

Clark : So, when did you get the tenement on wheels?

Eddie : Oh, that uh, that there’s an RV. Yeah, yeah, I borrowed it off a buddy of mine. He took my house, I took the RV. It’s a good looking vehicle, ain’t it?

Clark : Yeah, it looks so nice parked in the driveway. (sarcastically)

Eddie : Yeah, it sure does. But, don’t you go falling in love with it now, because we’re taking it with us when we leave here next month.

While taking a drink from his glass, Clark almost chokes on his eggnog.

End of scene.

Here’s a shot of Eddie’s RV:
