Some Bob Ross Inspiration

  • by

If you signed up for my newsletter, you know that I promised to share some “behind the scenes” information from time to time. Well, the first thing I want to share is a picture of my studio. Or rather, my “studio-ette“. I don’t have a studio per se. It’s more like a vintage drafting table and stool in a corner of our parlor.

I use an old drafting table in the parlor as my studio.

Okay, there’s a second thing to share. The parlor. My wife and I live in a Victorian home that was built in the 1880’s, and it actually has a parlor. At least we think it’s a parlor. We have a living room, dining room, and den, plus this other room, all on the first floor. So we’re calling it the parlor. You’ll have to wait for pics of that. 😉

I can guess what you’re thinking now: that’s all fine and good, but what does that have to do with Bob Ross? Well, I’m glad you asked. If you look closely at the picture above, to the left of the painter’s tape is a Bob Ross bobble head. And next to him is a 3-ring cardboard “easel” displaying some of his paintings. In case you can’t make it out, here’s a closeup.

And when I need some inspiration, I’ll give him a little tap on the head so he’s nodding “yes” like “you can do this“. And then I’ll press the little yellow button by his feet to hear some inspirational quotes. Yeah, he talks too! And that is usually enough to get me back on track.

I paint in the parlor, on a vintage drafting table, with a Bob Ross bobble head. It kind of reminds me of the game “Clue”. 😉

Until next time.
